Epoch Overview

An Epoch is a complete game cycle in 5xFaction. Each epoch lasts 7 days and consists of two phases:

• Deposit Phase: 2 days — Players can join factions and stake

• Lock Phase: 5 days — Strategy is locked, yield is generated

During the deposit phase, the game is dynamic:

• TVL changes constantly as players deposit

• Scores fluctuate based on faction distribution

• Strategy can be adjusted until phase ends

Why 5 Days Lock Period?

The extended lock period serves important purposes:

1. Yield Generation — More time for DeFi protocols to generate meaningful yield

2. Strategic Commitment — Players must commit to their choice

3. Reduced Gas Costs — Fewer epoch transitions means lower total gas

4. Market Stability — Longer cycles reduce speculation and manipulation

Epoch End Resolution

When an epoch ends (after 7 days total):

1. Calculate Final Scores

   • All faction TVLs are locked

   • Pentagon scoring formula applied

2. Determine Winner

   • Highest score wins

   • Ties: Lower Clan ID wins (rare edge case)

3. Distribute Yield

   • Total yield calculated from DeFi returns (5 days of yield)

   • Yield goes to winning faction members

   • Proportional to each member's stake

4. Trigger Next Epoch

   • clearCanvas() function called

   • New deposit phase begins

   • Previous TVL positions remain (unless withdrawn)
